Kiambu Spike’s AA lot captivated us from the very first cupping. Bright, juicy, and deeply layered, this coffee reflects the care and character of a small 12-hectare farm tucked into the high elevation of Kaira-ini, Kiambu. Farm manager Moses told us the name “Spike” was chosen simply because the owner liked it — a humble beginning for a coffee that’s anything but simple.  Grown at 1930 meters and planted in classic Kenyan varieties like SL-28 and Ruiru 11, this lot shines with citrus vibrancy, tangy fruit, and a sweetly spiced finish. Aromas of honey, caramel, and ripe stone fruit set the stage, while the cup opens with bright muscat grape, tamarind, and cranberry, settling into a long finish touched with clove and warm spice.  Processed using a traditional wet method and dried on raised beds, Spike Farm AA is a testament to thoughtful farming and the timeless beauty of Kenyan coffee.
