Mokha Matari begins not with intensity, but with quiet depth—a coffee that reveals itself layer by layer. Grown at staggering altitudes between 2000–2400 meters, the cherries come from small hillside plots in Bani Matari, where families tend their trees much like a backyard orchard. This lot is sourced through Fatoum Muslot, whose decades-old family business has helped preserve the unique identity of Matari by championing careful hand-sorting and modern storage practices that protect flavor from farm to export.

From the first grind, the fragrance is vivid: date syrup, sesame candy, halva, and warm cinnamon. Brewed, the cup leans into bittersweet cocoa, chai spice, brown sugar, and tanned leather. As it cools, the profile shifts into soft baked-good sweetness—pumpkin bread, toasted pepitas, pistachio, and dried fig.

Given a few days of rest, Mokha Matari settles into its most expressive form: rustic, sweet, spiced, and unmistakably Yemeni.
